In line with the guidance released by the Government, Newington now has its own Community Hub, provided by volunteers who are residents of the village, supported by Swale Borough Council, Newington Parish Council, St Mary's Church and Georgina Springall, our Village KCC Community Warden.

This is to support those in our community amongst the estimated 1.5 million vulnerable people whose health could be severely affected by COVID-19 and need to self-isolate for at least 12 weeks. We hope this will also support those without the serious health issues but who have to self-isolate and have no friends, family or network to support them.

Support offered by the hub may be:

- a friendly, regular call to check in and prevent loneliness/social isolation as much as possible
- picking up urgent items such as food or medical supplies

If anyone in Newington needs this, they should call or text 07494 729655 or email [email protected]. Details will be taken and a volunteer will try and be sourced to assist.

Those involved in coordinating and providing this support are doing so on a voluntary basis.

If you live in the village and are able to offer the above support as a volunteer, please also call 07494 729655 or email [email protected] - we’d love to hear from you!

For support from St Mary’s Church please contact Rev. Julian Staniforth - 01795 227329

Thank you
