What do buried coins tell us about the people who lived here centuries ago?

Kent Archives invites you to a fascinating evening with Dr Barrie Cook, former Curator of Medieval and Early Modern Coinage at the British Museum. Dr Cook will review coin hoards discovered across Kent, from Seasalter to Maidstone, and explore what they reveal about everyday life in medieval England.

These hoards weren’t left by kings or nobles. Most were hidden by ordinary people, farmers, workers, and families, living through uncertain times. Their stories are part of Kent’s history, and they’re closer than you think.

Whether you’re curious about the past, enjoy local stories, or simply want to try something new, this event offers a unique chance to see history through a different lens.
