Swale Borough Council is currently running a consultation on behalf of BT who is proposing to decommission the phone box in Newington. The pay phone is located adjacent to The Bull Bus Layby, A2, at the High Street, Newington, Sittingbourne, ME9 7JP.

Swale Borough Council is requesting your views on BT’s proposed removal of a public pay phone and the consultation closes on Wednesday 4 November, 2020.

BT has reported that the pay phone has had been used an average of 2 times each month during the last year. They have argued that the payphone has not been used enough and they are proposing that it be removed.
