Summer Fete 2025

The Recreation Ground was full: the funfair at one end and the Village Fete taking up the rest of the space. We had: a ‘Fun Dog Show’; traditional stalls such as the coconut shy; plants and produce for sale; vintage-style teas and delicious cakes (from our brilliant WI); a barbecue; speciality foods and ice creams, as well as over forty other stalls from outside organisations and charities. There was also entertainment from Company 3.

For children, we had: soft play; Punch and Judy; Micky the Magician, Mrs Back to Front; and, for those with any energy left - races organised by the youth club. We managed all of this with no admission charge.

Everyone who came and those running stalls all said they enjoyed the afternoon, it was a fantastic day for the village with something for everyone.

Summer Fete 2026

The Fete is always held on the second Saturday in July and would not take place without our amazing volunteers who help with setting up, the barbecue, and also at the end of the day. However we are at a ‘crunch point’: if there is to be a Village Fete in 2026 we need villagers committed to help- we need you!

We need help planning and organising the Fete: we usually meet for an hour once a month from January to June and then more often in the run-up to the big day. The process has become a ‘well-oiled machine’ and Councillors will be on hand to advise and help throughout.

We need practical help setting-up and clearing-away: a van with driver and helpers to collect benches from the school and tables from the village hall on the Friday afternoon and to return them on the Monday morning; Saturday morning helpers to mark-out the stall positions, set up the dog show arena and assemble the gazebos, tea tent; and seating; Saturday afternoon helpers to put stuff away at the end of the fete; and Sunday morning helpers to assist in getting things straight.

With enough helpers we can have another successful Fete for our residents; without help, the future of the Summer Fete is in doubt. For offers of help, or questions, please contact the Clerk: [email protected]

We hope you will join us and be part of something special in 2026.
